SecuROM 7 1:1 copy

My school has had us buy a book from Pearson for a German-language class, and the book came with a DVD. I want to make a copy of this DVD, but it's secured with SecuROM and copying it with "regular tools" such as K3B or dd doesn't work. To be more precise, I can copy the files to another DVD, but the program withing the DVD won't start because it says "no original found", and if I have Daemon Tools running it says "emulation detected" instead, and it won't start. I think the protection is SecuROM 7 or 8 (7.40?) and the DVD only works on Windows (the binary executable file is a Windows binary).
My question is... can I, and if yes how do I, make a 1:1 copy of this DVD such that I can use it instead of the original copy from the DVD reader?

I was able to create an image, both with Alcohol (.mds) and with Daemon Tools (.mdx) and I can get the DVD running with a virtual drive. BTW, only with a virtual drive created with Alcohol or Daemon Tools, but not with other drives for example WinCDEmu... and I don't understand why. Any idea why they don't work?

However, I would like to be able to just put this DVD into the reader and launch the program, without any virtual drive or RMPS emulator. Is this possible at all? I don't really understand how SecuROM works, but what is preventing me from making an exact 1:1 copy? The image that I've created with Daemon Tools, I've let it run the DPM analysis, so I suppose the information is there in the image. Plus my DVD writer is detected as supporting any mode, DAO/SAO/TAO/RAW... and as far as I understand SecuROM only adds some intentional errors in the DVD disk. Can I use Daemon Tools or any other software to make an exact copy that will run from the DVD without any virtual drive?
