Daemon Tools Pro Advanced v5.4 Install/Uninstall Issue

Up until today I had been using Daemon Tools Pro advanced v5.3 without issue. Today when i fired it up to use it, I was prompted to download and install the latest version (v5.4) so I did so. I rebooted when prompted and logged back in. When I tried to launch Daemon Tools, it just did nothing other than chance the cursor to the waiting cursor like it was going to launch, and then it just went back to the standard pointing cursor. I tried this several times with the same results. I brought up task manager to see if it was actually launching and I could see the EXE show up in the process list and then terminate. So I brought up my Application Event logs and found that DTPro.exe was crashing on launch. I tried digging something up on the error via Google, but came up empty. I also checked the forums here and also found nothing.

This is the error that I get:
Code:

I've tried uninstalling the software but get similar errors. I've also tried re-intalling it and installing an older version. Re-install of 5.4 gives the same errors and trying to install an older version just tells me that there is already a newer version installed.

I've tried all of this in safe mode as well.

I've also run a virus scan and came up with nothing.

I'm running Win7 x64 SP1 and as stated this is happening with Daemon Tools Pro Advanced v5.4.

Why DAEMON Tools Lite v4.48.1 (with SPTD 1.84) comes with spyware

Hi,

Why DAEMON Tools Lite v4.48.1 (with SPTD 1.84) comes with spyware. I know it's about the money but i hate to install crappy software just for having DAEMON Tools installed...

(Free version) The latest update broke my DT

Hello,

I've just tried to install update for DT Lite. I was prompted to do it by a pop-up just after my system booted up. Unfortunately the update came with malware, or as creators of that "something-something-optimizer" would most likely prefer me to say, a very useful optimization tool. My security software did agree with me, though, and both Avast antivirus and Comodo Firewall went crazy during installation. As a result, my installation is now broken.

DT crashes right after system boots up. I'm unable to uninstall it in any way because the process crushes every time. With some trouble, I was able to uninstall the "optimizer" thingy. I was sure I disabled it in DT's setup...

Anyway, how do I uninstall DT? I tried the " How to remove DAEMON Tools V4?" thread, but I do not have the file specified there in my system. Could you please tell me how to remove my current installation and if it's possible, install a new free version without malware?

Driver doesn't install properly

Hi all,

I decided to install Daemon tools since my laptop's actual DVD drive stopped working (not sure why, it's just not being detected by the computer, but that's another issue).

But when I installed Daemon tools (Lite) it says the DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device driver failed to install.

And when I try to add a DT drive, the same error appears and it says "Unable to add virtual device"

And when I try to add a SCSI Drive it adds one as far as Daemon Tools is concerned, but it's labelled as invalid, doesn't show up in My Computer and I can't mount ISOs to it.

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks

When I was on Windows 8 i was mounting CD image in SCSI drive and all works fine.
But after update to Windows 8.1 (and SPTD 1.8.4) i get error:

Please deactivate virtual drive and emulation software.
I emulate only one drive.

(P.S The same is with Alcohol 120%)

"You already have the maximum amount of virtual drives."

Hi, recently I used system restore because I was having some issues with my computer, and now when I try to mount files on Daemon tools it says that I have the maximum amount of virtual drives. So naturally I went to check my system device manager to see how many virtual drives I have, and it said that I had 5 DT virtual drives, all flagged with "This hardware can't be started because it's configurationinformation in the register is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)."

I have Windows 8 and Daemon tools lite (free version), please help as soon as you can. Much appreciated.

windows failing to mount virtual drive after reboot, cant uninstall

I dont use daemon tools often so I dont remember what version I was updating from, but I was trying to update to the latest version, as when I opened daemon tools it said I had an update. I updated the system and when it asked me to reboot, I told it no as I was in the middle of doing something else and would reboot when I got a chance. About 20 min after that I rebooted the system and when I got back into windows it did the normal I found new hardware sound then immediately did the unmount hardware sound. I first I thought I had a loose USB cable but after checking my cables I noticed that daemon tools did not load the virtual hard dvd drive. So after trying to get daemon tools to even load. (it doesnt even start anymore)

I decided to just uninstall the program and start over. But when I went to uninstall the uninstaller crashed. I then went and redownloaded the latest version thinking that maybe the setup program would let me uninstall daemon tools but it also crashes. I also tried just doing the reinstall and that crashes out as well during the uninstall. I then went into windows safemode and tried both but they also crashed and failed to uninstall.

This is getting very annoying as windows keep trying to mount a broken driver that I cant find or stop it from mounting it. Please help before I go insane from the windows sounds and the slight hang that windows does as it tries to mount the broken virtual drive.

Issue running a game from a virtual drive

**I apologize if this is in the wrong sub-forum**

Specs:
• Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
• Intel Core i7-3520M @ 2.90GHz
• 8 GB RAM
• GPU should be irrelevant since I don’t even have the game installed to play yet.

Okay, so I recently moved down to college and had to purchase a laptop for the engineering school I am in. Unfortunately this laptop does not have a DVD drive and I would like to install the Fallout 3 disc I purchased a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I do not have access to an external DVD drive and cannot afford to purchase one.

Using what resources I have I made an iso of the main fallout 3 disc on my desktop using daemon tools. Then I went ahead and copied the iso to my laptop, which already had daemon tools installed on it. So I went ahead and created a virtual drive on my laptop and mounted the fallout3.iso to it. Next I right clicked the virtual drive and selected “Install or run program from your media” but then a window popped up saying:
Please insert the original disc instead of a backup (1000).
Please have a look at SecuROM for further, more detailed information.

Trying an alternative method I right clicked the fallout drive and clicked “open” than I ran the setup.exe in the drive folder with administrative privileges and the game installed successfully. However, when I went to run the game the exact same exact window above came up telling me to insert the original disc. I found this strange as I’ve never had an issue with running games from virtual drives in the past.

Having been told you can just launch the game directly from the folder the game was installed in, I went ahead and tried launching both Fallout3.exe and FalloutLauncher.exe with administrative privileges but the same exact error window came up again both times. After that failed I went ahead and installed FOMM in hopes of being able to launch the game from FOMM but, once again, the same error message popped up.

I heard that the 1.7 update is supposed to fix the disc requirement issue so I went ahead and downloaded the fallout3_1.7 updater from fallout’s official website (Fallout: Welcome to the Official Site). After running the updater with administrator privileges it updated to 100% and the window closed but then the cursor icon changed to a disc for a couple of seconds and then the same error message came up again.

I’m assuming securom is the issue but I can’t say that with confidence. I find this whole situation ridiculous considering the fact that I legally purchased the game and am unable to play it on my laptop. I’ve been researching this issue over a week and have gotten nowhere. I just want to play Fallout 3 lol…. Does anyone know of any ways to fix this issue? I’d greatly appreciate any help and am able to provide any additional necessary details. Thank you in advance.

DVD-RAM Drive won't read RW discs, CD/DVD ROM drive gone

Hi all. I installed DT Tools Lite, latest version, on my XP box and the symptoms described in the title occurred, plus sometimes there is an additional CD-ROM drive, but it isn't functional. That is, when I insert a DVD, it gets loaded into the DVD-RAM (J) drive and the other CD-ROM is useless because media only loads under the DVD-RAM disc. However, that one is gone at the moment (after a system restore.).

It will read movie DVDs, but not data RW-DVDs that I'd previously created on this same machine.

1. It reads movie DVDs, so the optics are good.

2. The DVDs that I burned myself are good because they're read on other machines.

3. I've tried among several attempts in no particular order:

* MS "Fixit" solution - could not repair

* Manual upper/lower filter removal - no upper/lower filters present under that registry key

* Uninstalled, reinstalled, and delete all virtual drives in Daemon Tools Lite - DVD-RAM still there, but no DVD drive.

* System restore to points before first install of Daemon Tools Lite - DVD-RAM still there, but no DVD drive.

* Re-nstalled Daemon Tools Lite and used it to mount original ISO that I had used it for, unmounted all media, then deleted virtual drive, then unistalled - DVD-RAM still there, but no DVD drive.

* Tried SPTD solution (Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help), fix wouldn't go through.

* Checked in device manager - the only device listed is the original device name, it shows as functioning normally, and checking for recent hardware changes yields nothing.

And a couple of other suggestions that I've found on the Internet as well as searching the forums here.

is there anything new that I might try? It seems to be a not uncommon problem judging by the search results, but no one seems to have a handle on why DT Lite seems to take out people's optical drives and supplants it with zombie:icon_eek: DVD-RAM zombies that can't be killed.

TIA for any and all suggestions,

Dave

Daemon Tool is Dismounting before opening .iso file

Hello,
I have two computers and on both of them Daemon Tools Lite stopped working. It mounts the image but dismounts as soon as it tries to open the file. Both windows 7, one 64 bit. I updated to the latest version of Daemon Tools Lite on the 64 bit, but no luck.

Could it have something to do with a windows update?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

USERS BEWARE!
There is a Browser HiJacker included in Daemon Tools Lite download. For this HiJacker there is no fix for that I can find. I've asked Daemon for help, they were of no help at all. In order to get rid of this nasty, I need to completely reinstall Windows. If you also have this problem, please be in contact with me, I'm looking to start a class action law suit to recover costs plus damages.

Hi, I'm constantly getting these problems when trying to run .iso files. I've tried to follow the steps shown here Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help to correct it but I can only get as far as step 12 (The second step 4). I'm running windows 8.1 and there is no owner tab present, would someone be able to help me out by showing me what to do? I'm running daemon tools lite btw.

I just restarted my win7 system and it seems that the (v)SCSI devices are marked as
invalid --

So I checked found an update 4.48.1 (lite) and installed it -- during the install, I got a message that the virtual device driver could not be installed --

Is there a solution to this?

Thanks

Conflict with Disc Emulator Software problem

$

Hello,

I've recently created images of a few old game discs that I had, because I don't have an actual disc drive on my computer and don't want to pay $70 for a new external disc drive. The images were successfully created, but when I went to go and run the disc images, I got an error saying, "Conflict with Disc Emulator Software detected." Looking around I have seen work arounds, like uninstalling Daemon Tools, but they are either to technical for me or don't work. I know these is probably asked too many times, but none of the threads were terribly helpful to me. If it helps the game I am currently trying is Great Battles of Rome. Thank you for your assistance.
